Sentencing in March for chop-shop defendant

The third of nine men charged in a large-scale theft and chop-shop operation in East Toledo pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court for his role.

Gary G. Wymer, Jr., 27, of 139 East Broadway pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport in interstate commerce truck tractors, trailers, and cargo he knew to be stolen. He is to be sentenced March 3 by U.S. District Court Judge James Carr.

Wymer and eight other men were indicted this year on charges they took part in a ring that stole trucks, trailers, and goods and then either sold them, cut them up into scrap metal and sold that, or broke them up for parts. Wymer also is facing a felony theft charge in Wood County Common Pleas Court that alleges he stole scrap metal from two locations between Oct. 10 and Dec. 23, 2012.
