Bodies of elderly man, wife were discovered inside their burning home.
Toledo fire officials confirmed today the identities of two people killed in a Saturday afternoon east-side fire.
Helen and Joe Rogowski, the owners of the structure at 458 Fassett St., were found dead inside their home, said fire Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld.
The fire was reported at 1:17 p.m. by a passer-by who saw smoke coming from the two-story residence.
Lieutenant Hertzfeld said crews discovered the bodies while fighting the “well-advanced fire.”
Neighbors described Mrs. Rogowski, 78, as bedridden.
Mr. Rogowski was 84 years old.
Additional information about what might have started the fire or about the causes of the deaths was unavailable.
