A man robbing a West Toledo carryout Saturday night was shot once by the clerk, said Lucas County Deputy Coroner Dr. Maneesha Pandey.

The single wound was to Christopher Shockley's torso, Dr. Pandey said. There were no other signs of trauma.

Shockley, 28, was found shot near the front door of Stop & Go, 3131 W. Sylvania Ave., just after 9:20 p.m. Saturday.

He was shot by December Long, 29, a store employee who was shot by Shockley.

Police said today that it appears Shockley was the first to open fire.

Ms. Long was shot at least once in her abdomen, according to a police incident report.

She was taken to Toledo Hospital for treatment; a spokesman said today the hospital did not have any information about a patient named December Long.

Shockley was also taken to Toledo Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police do not anticipate charges against Ms. Long.
