Incident at Sylvania Northview injures man, police officer

A man and a Sylvania police officer were injured today during an incident at Northview High School, police said.

The man, whose name was not released by police, was hurt when an officer used a Taser on him. He and the officer were taken to Flower Hospital, where they were treated and released. It was unclear how the officer was injured.

According to a Sylvania police dispatcher, three officers were sent to the school about 4:40 p.m. after the school reported a suspicious male was inside the building.

The man was charged and taken to the Lucas County jail. The charge was not immediately known.

According to the school, students were in the building at the time of the incident and directed to stay in areas that were secure.
