A Toledo man who alarmed police officers and school officials when he entered Northview High School for no apparent reason has been formally charged with assaulting a Sylvania city officer.

Charles Lambert, 48, was arraigned in Sylvania Municipal Court on today on charges of assault, resisting arrest, disruption of school activity, and criminal trespass.

He remained in the Lucas County jail late today in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Another court hearing is set for 10 a.m., Monday.

Mr. Lambert was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Monday at Northview, after police said he entered the Northview school building after school hours and would not respond to questions about why he was on the property. When police tried to stop him from walking through the school, he resisted and a struggle ensued in which an officer was injured, police said.

Police used a stun gun on Mr. Lambert, who was then brought to Flower Hospital.

He does not have children attending Sylvania schools. No weapons were found on the suspect, nor did he make any threats. Children and staff were in the building at the time participating in extracurricular activities. No other injuries were reported.

Mr. Lambert had visited Southview High School last week, and was escorted off the property at that time, police said.
