A student was injured today at Whitmer High School's Career and Technology Center when a vehicle in the auto lab lurched forward and struck him, police said.

The boy, whose name and age were not available, was taken to Toledo Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Debra Heban, director of the vocational center, said the student's parents were notified. She said his condition was not known.

"As always, student safety is the number one priority," she said.

Police officers are still at the school investigating the incident, a department spokesman said shortly before 4 p.m.
