LaSALLE-- A Southgate, Mich., woman was killed Friday as her car crossed Telegraph Road and was struck broadside, troopers at the Monroe post of the Michigan State Police said.
The woman's identity was not released. Her husband, who was her passenger, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center as a precaution, but was not seriously injured.
Troopers said the woman was westbound on Stein Road about 4:05 p.m., and drove across railroad tracks that are parallel to Telegraph, but failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection. Her car was was struck by a northbound car.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. No one in the other car was seriously injured.
