Damage heavy from downtown Rossford fire

A downtown Rossford apartment fire Saturday night caused major damage to the Superior Street building, authorities reported.

Firefighters were called about 11 p.m. to a basement fire in the rear apartments at 311 Superior St. However, the building's balloon structure allowed the fire to quickly extend into the attic, according to the Rossford Fire Department.

The cause of the fire and estimate of the damage remain under investigation.

Perrysburg Township, Northwood, and Toledo crews assisted Rossford.
