Deadly crash in Mich. probed

LaSALLE, Mich. — An investigation continued Saturday into a two-vehicle crash that killed a Southgate, Mich., woman Friday afternoon at Stein and Telegraph roads in Monroe County’s LaSalle Township.

The woman’s identity was not released. Her husband, who was her passenger, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo as a precaution, but was not seriously injured, said troopers at the Monroe post of the Michigan State Police.

The woman was westbound on Stein Road about 4:05 p.m. and drove across railroad tracks that parallel Telegraph, but failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection, troopers said. Her car was struck on the driver’s side by a northbound vehicle. Details about the second vehicle were not available Saturday.
