Person killed in Monroe Co. crash
11/18/2013One person was killed today in a traffic crash in Monroe County’s Whiteford Township.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department said the crash occurred at 2:21 p.m. today on US-223 east of Memorial Highway when a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu headed east crossed the centerline into the westbound lane.
The car crashed head-on into a semi tractor-trailer driven by Tyrone Garner, 49, of Canton.
The Chevrolet driver, whom authorities would not identify pending family notification, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not wearing a seat belt.
Mr. Garner was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
