KeyBank in Monroe County robbed, suspect arrested

A KeyBank branch in Frenchtown Township was robbed Wednesday afternoon and a 61-year-old suspect was arrested within nine hours, authorities said.

About 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Monroe County sheriff's deputies took a suspect into custody from a residence on Mario Drive in Frenchtown Township, they reported. 

Detective Jeff Smith recovered an undetermined amount of currency from the robbery at the residence along with other evidence from the robbery, according to the sheriff's office. 

The suspect was lodged in the Monroe County Jail without incident pending authorization of charges.

The report of the robbery went like this: A man entered the bank at 1535 N. Telegraph Rd., at the corner with Stewart Road, about 3:55 p.m. Implying he had a weapon, he demanded money. An employee complied, and the man fled south on foot.
