Several people were injured today in two multiple-vehicle crashes that occurred on Anthony Wayne Bridge, closing it to traffic, authorities said.
The Lucas County EMS took one of the victims to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, a dispatcher for the service said. The name and condition of the victim were not released.
The crashes occurred on both sides of the bridge just before 2 p.m., according to the Toledo Fire Department
Bags of sand were ordered to soak up a slippery substance off the pavement, a fire dispatcher said.
Most emergency crews had left the scene sometime by 2:45 p.m., at which time the bridge remained closed, according to Toledo police. Police released no further information.
It was unclear whether the crashes were related. The incidents remained under investigation.
