Pedestrian killed on U.S. 23 in Sylvania

Man apparently struck by tractor-trailer rig late Thursday

Authorities today investigated an incident in which a man was killed by traffic as he walked on U.S. 23 in Sylvania late Thursday.

The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had no identification, according to Sylvania police. An autopsy was scheduled to determine his identity and the cause of death.

The victim was struck by a tractor-trailer about 10:10 p.m. on southbound U.S. 23 near Monroe Street, police said. Initial reports were that the man was walking along the side of the freeway.

The incident remains under investigation.
