The Lucas County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a tractor-trailer Thursday night in Sylvania as an 18-year-old Walbridge man.

Tyler Herron was walking in a travel lane of southbound U.S. 23 when he was struck and killed. His identity was initially unknown because he carried no identification.

Dr. Cynthia Beisser, an assistant Lucas County coroner, said Mr. Herron died of multiple blunt-force trauma injuries.

Mr. Herron was hit about 10:10 p.m. south of the Monroe Street interchange. Sylvania police closed the southbound lanes for several hours afterward to investigate.

Dr. Beisser said a toxicology screen for Mr. Herron is pending and the investigation of his death continues.
