Five people are in custody late today after a stolen U-Haul was driven into a Toledo fur store.
A Michigan police officer saw the truck smash into Toledo Fur Services, 2123 W. Central Ave., at 6:24 a.m. today, and then called city police, according to a police incident report.
No suspects went into the store, which police believe the suspects were intending to burglarize.
Toledo police stopped the U-Haul, which was reported stolen from Michigan, on northbound I-75 just north of Alexis Road.
The five people inside - all residents of Detroit - were questioned and then taken into custody without incident and booked into the Lucas County jail, police said.
Charged with felony vandalism are: Quinton Benson, 36; Deshawn Diggs, 24; Adrian Hill, 26; Alfred Johnson, 35; and Antwain McKenzie, 23. Mr. McKenzie was also charged with receiving stolen property in connection with the stolen van they were in.
