SUV driven through entryway in attempt to steal ATM machine

MONROE -- Authorities are investigating the attempted removal of an ATM machine from a closed gas station early today in Monroe Township.

A SUV crashed through the doors of the Marathon Gas Station, 15278 S. Dixie Hwy, about 3 a.m. causing damage to the entryway of the building, a news release stated.

Two people, wearing hooded shirts exited the vehicle, tied a strap around the ATM machine located just inside the building and attempted to remove it. The attempt was unsuccessful and the suspects fled the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
