FREMONT — The drivers of two vehicles were killed Monday in a head-on collision caused when the driver of one of the vehicles drove the wrong way on a divided highway where U.S. 20 and U.S. 6 run together, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Killed were Charles E. Starks, 61, of Fremont and Evelyn N. Hunt, 57, also of Fremont, troopers said.
Zackary Zimmerman, 15, who was a passenger in Ms. Hunt’s pickup truck, was transported to Fremont Memorial Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
Starks was driving east in the westbound lanes of U.S. 20/U.S. 6 in Sandusky Township about 7:20 p.m. when he collided with Ms. Hunt’s westbound truck, the patrol reported.
Starks was not wearing a seat belt. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The westbound lanes of the highway were closed to traffic for about three hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
