Dakota Schaffer, the passenger, also of Bellevue, was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was transported to University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, with injuries that appeared to be life threatening, troopers said. A hospital spokesman said today young Schaffer remained at the hospital. His condition was not released.
The car was driving southwest on Route 18 a few miles southwest of Bellevue about 9:20 p.m. when for unknown reasons it drove off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, and traveled over it, the patrol said. The vehicle then struck a barn, landscape rocks, and a tree.
Both victims were wearing seat belts, according to the patrol.
The crash remains under investigation.
