A Toledo man jumped from the second story of a vacant central-city house hoping to elude the officers who were after him.

It didn't work.

Kevin Martin, 18, of 3106 Cambridge St., is charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, obstructing official business, criminal trespassing, and assault.

He was arraigned today in Toledo Municipal Court and was ordered to remain in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $10,000.

Police went to 34 Rockingham St. at 11:55 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of someone being in the boarded-up house. Once officers were inside, they reported hearing noises coming from the second floor.

In an upstairs bedroom, they found Mr. Martin, who also goes by the street name of KFifty, a known member of the Manor Boyz. Instead of showing his hands as officers ordered, Mr. Martin jumped from the balcony and literally hit the ground running, according to court documents.

During his short dash to freedom, Mr. Martin tried to climb a fence, but was nabbed by Officer Ward Lemke.

Officer Lemke tore a right bicep muscle while arresting Mr. Martin, according to court records.

After Mr. Martin was in custody, officers reported finding 2.5 grams of crack cocaine in the right front pocket of his sweatpants.
