The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office is warning of a scam involving someone who identified himself as a lieutenant in the sheriff’s office who told a Toledo-area resident that the resident failed to appear for jury duty and a $500 fee must be paid to avoid arrest.

The man is not associated with the sheriff’s office or Lucas County Common Pleas Court. Anyone who is contacted or who may know his identity should call the sheriff’s office at 419-213-4977 or dial 911.
