Fire destroys much of Sylvania Township house

Sylvania Township firefighters battle blaze at Blossman Road home.

Sylvania Township Fire Department is battling a house fire at 5954 Blossman Rd. today.

Deputy Fire Chief Michael Froelich said they were alerted to the fire at 1:21 p.m. When fire crews arrived several minutes later, the home was engulfed in flames. The homeowners were not at home, he said. 

Crews fought the flames from outside the structure, because the home was engrossed in flames. Nothing could be salvaged or saved, he said.

The cause of the fire was not known.

Mr. Froelich said an investigation will follow.

Sylvania Township Police have blocked off the portion of the street from traffic near the Fairbanks Avenue intersection.
