Lucas County placed back under Level 3 snow emergency

Growing concerns over stranded vehicles lead to increase in emergency level

Lucas County has returned to a Level 3 snow emergency amid growing concerns regarding plunging temperatures and stranded vehicles, says the Lucas County Sheriff's office.  

The emergency level was raised back to 3 at 3:50 a.m. by Lucas County Sheriff John Tharp Tuesday morning after seeing the Level dropped down to 2 Monday afternoon. With early morning temperatures going as low as minus-14, local officials raised the level due to concern over cars stalling and becoming stranded in the harsh weather. 

A Level 3 emergency cites that all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.

There is currently no set time for when the emergency level will be downgraded or discontinued.
