Two children were taken to Mercy St. Charles Hospital from an overnight house fire in East Toledo.

An adult from the house near the Oregon line and a firefighter both considered getting treatment and multiple life squads were called to the scene about 3:45 a.m. But both of them decided against going to a hospital by squad, according to Toledo Fire Lt. Thomas Kuhman.

Firefighters were called at 3:25 a.m. to the two-story house at 1724 Gill St., near Spring Grove Avenue.

An early call indicated that everyone was out of the house but firefighters arrived at a rather chaotic scene, the lieutenant said, adding that it was unclear exactly when everyone got out of the house.

The house will be demolished. It was starting to collapse, raining debris on firefighters, by 3:42 a.m., the lieutenant said.
