Sylvania Township has the final figures for Fire Station No. 1, and the township board approved additional expenses at a recent meeting.

Fire Chief Jeff Kowalski outlined extra costs for the building that went operational in November, at the Jan. 8 board meeting. The station is at 6633 Monroe St. in downtown Sylvania.

The new station cost $2.3 million. That includes about $2 million in construction, $153,000 in architectural fees, and $117,000 spent on equipment, lockers, cabinets, and other internal fixtures.

Officials said the additional costs for the station totaled about $71,000. The structure was built by Fremont-based Mosser Construction and designed by Vetter Design Group of Toledo.
