A 14-year-old girl who told police that someone tried to abduct her from a downtown bus station has been charged with falsification, police said.

The girl told police a man tried to grab her while she was waiting at a bus stop at Washington and 14th streets on Jan. 16. The girl provided police with a description so a sketch could be drawn.

Police said the description was made up and is not a depiction of a real person. Investigators reported that the girl's statements did not match evidence.

Police said the girl was charged on Wednesday and that the investigation is ongoing.
