A father-daughter duo admitted Friday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court that they hired someone to burn down a central-city home.

Savannah Bibbs, 22, of 812 Heston St. pleaded no contest to complicity to commit arson, a third-degree felony, while Stephen Gibbs, 40, of 4 Charlevoix Ct. pleaded no contest to complicity to commit arson, a fourth-degree felony. Both are to be sentenced by Judge Stacy Cook on Jan. 31.

Mark Herr, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, told the court Bibbs was living at 624 Pinewood Ave. — a home owned by her grandmother — when she and Gibbs paid a man $200 to set fire to the house Sept. 29 so Bibbs could file a claim on her renter’s insurance.
