A fire of an undetermined origin destroyed a house in Northwood on Tuesday, leaving the family of a firefighter homeless, authorities said.

A fund has been set up to assist Bill Crosser, a Perrysburg Township firefighter, and his wife Pam, said Perrysburg Township dispatcher Morgan Donnell.66f4a5e1-2097-4947-a458-1130eee667a4

Fire crews arrived about 7:50 a.m.and found the house at 905 Gould St. fully engulfed in flames, Northwood Fire Chief Joel Whitmore said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about an hour, but not before the single-story, wood frame house was a total loss, Chief Whitmore said.

The family is staying in a hotel and they lost everything in the blaze, said Ms. Donnell. The Perrysburg Township Police and Fire Department, 26711 Lime City Road is accepting donations for the family and a Web site fundly.com/ bill-cross-fire-fund was established to accept donations, she said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
