A Toledo firefighter slipped and fell on ice while responding to an East Toledo blaze, but sustained no injuries, authorities said.

The firefighter was taken by Life Squad to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where she was evaluated.

The fire was reported about 8:40 p.m. at 1202 Idaho St., a house with several living units. Arriving firefighters were greeted by heavy smoke, but the fire was declared under control at 9:02 p.m.

Authorities said the blaze started in the kitchen of one living unit and damage was confined to that unit.

The building is owned by Fresh Start Concepts LLC, which has a post office box in Oregon, according to the Lucas County auditor's Web site.
