1 dead, another injured in 2-vehicle crash in Wood County

NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio -- Authorities have identified Stephen Humphries of Nitro, W.Va., as the man killed early today on snow-slickened I-75 near this Wood County community in a car vs. semi crash, in which a woman was also seriously injured.

Mr. Humphries, 22, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol's Bowling Green post.

Jessica King, 23, of Kanawha, W.Va., his passenger, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

The semi was stopped for a traffic crash near milepost 169 in the northbound lanes about 1:50 a.m. when the car struck it in the rear, closing northbound I-75 for about two hours, troopers said. Traffic on the interstate returned to normal about 4 a.m.

Kenneth Mossbarger, 42, of Tipp City, Ohio, the driver of the semi, was not injured, according to the patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
