MONROE — A Newport, Mich., teen died Wednesday from injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle crash on North Telegraph Road at Sigler Road in Monroe County’s Ash Township.
Chelsea L. Klocek, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle that had been eastbound on Sigler until it collided with a semi tractor-trailer that had been northbound on Telegraph about 2:30 p.m., according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The Jeep was driven by Manushaqe S. Pasho, also 17 and from Newport, who was listed in critical condition Wednesday night in Oakwood-South Shore Hospital in Trenton, Mich., the sheriff’s office said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, David McCowan, 57, of Morenci, Mich., was not injured, the sheriff’s office said.
All parties involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, authorities said.
