A would-be robber fled a West Toledo carryout Thursday morning after a clerk pushed his gun away from her, then another employee told the gunman there was no money in the store.

The robber, whose face was shielded by a blue knit ski mask, asked the clerk at the Stop & Go store, 3645 Upton Ave., for a pack of cigarettes about 10:30 a.m. But when the clerk turned back around, he had a gun pointed at her.

The clerk pushed away the gun and told the man to “stop playing,” according to a Toledo police report. The other employee in the store yelled at the robber to get out of the store, and he fled.

The robber is described by police as in his early 20s, white, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with blue eyes, reddish hair, and a mustache with chin whiskers. Along with his ski mask, he wore a black hooded coat and gloves.
