Man robbed at S. Toledo intersection

Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery in South Toledo early Saturday.

Joshua Kesterson, 31, who lives onCarmelle Court, told Toledo police he was held up nearby at the intersection of Schneider Road and South Detroit Avenue about 2:30 a.m.

Police said two black males jumped out of a car and approached the victim’s car. One of the suspects had a gun and demanded money. They fled after Mr. Kesterson complied, according to the report.

Mr. Kesterson was not immediately available to comment Saturday. His fiancee, Allison Smith, 32, a nurse, said he told her and detectives that he stopped his car because a white or tan Chrysler Sebring was blocking Schneider after Mr. Kesterson turned west from South Detroit.

She said the man with the gun put the weapon to the windshield and told him to get out of the car, then demanded his money and his wallet. She said Mr. Kesterson gave him the wallet, which contained about $400, and the assailant then hit Mr. Kesterson in the head, leaving a small laceration and a lump.

Ms. Smith said the robbery occurred about an hour after she awoke around 1:30 a.m. at their home to the sound of someone trying to enter through the front door and called police. She said four neighbors complained there have been attempted home and car break-ins in the area.

Detectives were not available for further information.
