MILAN, Ohio — A tractor-trailer overturned on State Rt. 113 at U.S. 250 early Tuesday, injuring its driver and blocking U.S. 250’s northbound lanes for several hours, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Driver Todd Elam, 42, of Tipp City, Ohio was taken to Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk for treatment of minor injuries, according to the patrol’s Sandusky post.

The crash occurred about 6:05 a.m. in Erie County’s Milan Township. Mr. Elam was trying to turn from eastbound Route 113 onto northbound U.S. 250 in Erie County’s Milan Township about 6:05 a.m. when he lost control of his truck. It overturned and spilled diesel fuel, oil, and 42,000 pounds of scrap metal onto U.S. 250’s median and northbound lanes, troopers said.

The closed lanes were reopened sometime before 3:30 p.m., a patrol dispatcher said. Mr. Elam was cited for failure to control his vehicle.
