Murder suspect arraigned on drug charge

Police say man wanted in Feb. 2 shooting had heroin on him when arrested

Tyrone Hoskins, Jr., a Toledo murder suspect who eluded police capture for more than a month, was arraigned today in Toledo Municipal Court.

The arraignment was only for a drug possession charge, which was filed against Mr. Hoskins, 23, when he was arrested at 12:20 a.m. at 3529 Mayo St. in North Toledo.

Police said Mr. Hoskins had three baggies of heroin on him when he was taken into custody by the department's gang unit who served a warrant at the Mayo Street home. He was booked into the Lucas County jail.

Bond for the drug possession charge was set at $10,000.

On Wednesday, Mr. Hoskins failed to appear in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for arraignment on a murder and participating in a criminal gang charges. For that, Judge Gary Cook ordered bond set at $1 million. Mr. Hoskins is facing an unrelated bribery charge and another participating in a criminal gang charge; his bond for that is $500,000.

Police allege that Mr. Hoskins was one of two men who shot and killed Michael Williams, Jr., 24,of Toledo, on Feb. 2 in the 1500 block of Ottawa Drive. Also charged in that case is Rishad Williams, 21, of Toledo. Mr. Williams turned himself into police and remains in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $1 million.

Mr. Hoskins is to appear in Toledo Municipal Court again Friday with his attorney Ronnie Wingate.
