Findlay man with 7 drunken driving convictions remains in jail

FINDLAY -- A Findlay man who has seven drunken driving convictions remains in jail today after he was arrested and accused of drunken driving following a two-vehicle collision, in which he and the other driver suffered minor injuries late Thursday.

Ray Nye, 45, is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond at the Hancock County jail, with an option of paying 10 percent of the bond and be released, according to the county sheriff's office. He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, which is a 3rd degree felony charge. All his convictions on that charge occurred over the last 20 years, Findlay police said.

Nye was driving south on South Blanchard Street about 10:05 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the intersection with East Sandusky Street, colliding with an vehicle that was eastbound on East Sandusky. The Nye vehicle then struck two utility poles on the west side of South Blanchard.

Both drivers were later treated at Blanchard Valley Hospital for minor injuries, police said.
