A Toledo man accused of setting a North Toledo house fire that injured a city firefighter remained in the Lucas County jail Friday.

Jesse Lopez, 18, of 35 E. Lake St. is charged with one count of aggravated arson. He was arraigned Thursday in Toledo Municipal Court and ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bond or 10 percent cash bail. His case was continued until April 14.

Officials allege that Mr. Lopez set fire to 15 E. Weber St. during the evening of March 21, causing $12,000 damage. While battling the blaze, one firefighter twisted his knee and was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment, fire Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld said.

The firefighter, who was not identified, was off work for two weeks, Lieutenant Hertzfeld said. No other injuries were reported.

County land records list Jesse M. Lopez as the house's owner, but it was unclear if he and the suspect are the same person.
