A 16-year-old Toledo boy was shot multiple times Sunday night, police said.

Deandre Douglas, the youngest shooting victim this year, was shot in his upper left chest and back at 11:24 p.m., according to a police report. The teen was taken by Toledo fire paramedics to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment; a spokesman on Monday had no information about the patient.

The youth was walking on Woodford Street, near Whittemore Street, when he was approached by two men who asked to borrow the teen’s phone. After getting the phone, the suspects yelled, “This is a stick up,” and punched the boy in the mouth. The teen fled and was shot, police said. Officers found the boy on the ground at Whittemore and Caldeonia streets.

Both suspects are described as black; one is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 135 to 140 pounds, with short black hair; the other suspect is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 160 pounds, with black hair worn in braids.

Police ask that anyone with information call the Crime Stopper program at 419-255-1111.
