A Marion, Ohio man has been indicted for the 1976 death of a Toledo woman, authorities said.

Martin Woods, 57, was indicted on a charge of murder by a Lucas County jury today in the death of Rebecca Gerst, according to Toledo police. The victim was 20 when she was found dead with a cut on her neck Feb. 4, 1976 in an apartment in the 2200 block of Parkwood Avenue, where she lived alone, police said.

Police said there was a disturbance in the apartment during the morning early hours and that someone was heard running down the stairs before the victim was found. The victim bled to death, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office. The death had been ruled a homicide.

The suspect is serving a prison term at the North Central Correctional facility in Marion for an unrelated murder charge from 1989.
