Pedestrian hurt seriously by hit-skip driver

SWANTON — Troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Toledo post are investigating a hit-skip crash that injured a pedestrian. Haylee Michelle Brandt, 30, of Swanton was in serious condition Thursday in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Ms. Brandt was walking north along the right edge of Main Street near Valleywoods Drive in Swanton about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when she was struck by a northbound car driven by Rebecca Sue Yarberry, 20, of Toledo. Ms. Brandt was thrown into a nearby yard.

Ms. Yarberry drove away and only later reported to Swanton police that she knew about the crash.

The crash closed the road for an hour.
