According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, dirt-bike driver Marc R. Thompson, 23, of Monroe and motorcycle operator Darin T. Lipkowski, 18, of Maybee both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Chelsie Little, 21, of Monroe, a passenger on Mr. Thompson’s dirt bike, was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, where she was pronounced dead. Mr. Lipkowski’s passenger, Samantha L. Morlan, 18, of Monroe was in fair condition Saturday at St. Joseph.

Deputies said Mr. Thompson was northbound on Doty Road just north of Zink Road about 11:30 p.m. when his dirt bike traveled left of center for an unknown reason and struck Mr. Lipkowski’s southbound motorcycle head-on.

Mr. Thompson and Ms. Little were thrown from the bike to Doty Road’s west shoulder, while Mr. Lipkowski and Miss Morlan were thrown to the east side of the road.

Deputies, who could not be reached Saturday for further comment, said in a prepared statement that it appeared that both passengers were wearing helmets, but the drivers were not.

All four of those involved attended or graduated from Monroe High School, according to their Facebook pages.

Mr. Lipkowski’s aunt said he and Miss Morlan had been dating for some time, but she and other family members said they did not wish to talk further.

Miss Morlan enthusiastically called Mr. Lipkowski a “perfect boyfriend” on her Facebook page. A senior at Monroe High School, she posted a picture of a teddy bear with a balloon tied to it with the message, “Will you go to the prom with me?”

“I was sleeping and Darin calls me and tells me to come outside,” she posted Feb. 5. “This is what is sitting on my porch.”

Ms. Little’s Facebook page identified her as a 2010 Monroe graduate, a former student at Monroe County Community College, and a server at Nick & Nino’s Coal-Fired Pizza and Sports Bar.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 734-240-7508.
