Students at Oak Harbor high school, middle school dismissed after bomb threat

OAK HARBOR, Ohio -- All middle school and high school students in Oak Harbor were dismissed today after a bomb threat was reported to the schools, officials reported on social media.

Officials said, on Twitter, that all students were safely sent home and that the police, sheriff's deputies, and fire officials were searching the buildings. All after-school activities were canceled.

Benton-Carroll-Salem schools Superintendent Guy Parmigian could not be reached by phone. An Oak Harbor police dispatcher said no one was available for comment because authorities were still at the high school.

The exact nature of the threat was not known; it was not immediately clear what time students were sent home.
