Toledo man accused of assaulting officer

A Toledo man who allegedly headbutted a city police officer, tried to hit his mother with a hammer, and punched his brother remained in the Lucas County jail on Monday.

Robert Lee, 28, of 3248 N. Erie St. is charged with three counts of assault and two counts of domestic violence; his bond was set on Friday at $150,000 during arraignment in Toledo Municipal Court.

According to a complaint, Mr. Lee was under arrest on Thursday for domestic violence for allegedly assaulting his brother and mother, when he told Officer Danielle Kasprzak he would headbutt her. The officer tried to move, but the arrestee was able to “slam” his head into her forehead, according to a complaint filed in court. The incident occurred at 332 Avalon Place in North Toledo.

The officer was not seriously injured, but the blow to her head was in the same spot as a previous injury causing “pain and discomfort,” the complaint states.

Mr. Lee is due in court for a preliminary hearing Friday.
