Teenager killed, 2 others injured in single-car rollover crash in Jerusalem Township

A 14-year-old Curtice, Ohio, boy was killed and two Curtice people were injured in a single-car rollover crash in Jerusalem Township late Monday, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Zachery Brantley, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the patrol's Bowling Green office. Young Brantley, who was in the front seat and was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, troopers said.

Cody Slinker, 20, the driver, and Brandon Bartic, 16, a passenger in the car's back seat, were taken to Mercy St. Charles Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, troopers said in a prepared statement. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about people by those names.

The 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra was southbound on Howard Road just south of Rachel Road about 9:45 p.m. when it drove off the left side of the road, spun around, and rolled over several times before coming to rest upright in a field, troopers said.

The patrol is investigating the incident. Speed and vehicle defects are being investigated as possible contributing factors, according to the patrol.
