84-year-old dead after going missing

An 84-year-old Holland woman who had been missing since Sunday morning was found in a ditch Sunday evening and pronounced dead in a hospital, her grandson said.

Holland police posted an item on its Facebook page asking for help finding Adamae Schooner of 1160 S. McCord Rd.

Police said she left a note saying she was going out for food.

Her grandson, Robert Wilson, who helped coordinate the search from his home in Cincinnati, said Ms. Schooner was recently diagnosed with dementia.

Mr. Wilson said he did not know where in Holland she was found or how far from home she had walked. He did not know which hospital she was taken to.

Police could not be reached for comment.
