Southbound I-75 reopens after fatal crash in Monroe County

    MONROE — Southbound I-75 and one northbound lane of the expressway have reopened after being shut down early today for a fiery traffic wreck on I-75 near the Dunbar Road overpass, which killed a person and caused authorities to also shut down Dunbar in both directions.

    The name of the fatal victim was not released.

    Michigan state police said the crash involved multiple vehicles, including at least one semi. Besides the fatal, it was unknown whether there were other injuries.

    Crews are also evaluating the overpass for structural damage.

    The crash occurred at about 9:40 a.m. Southbound I-75 opened to traffic about 11:30 a.m., at which time northbound I-75 and Dunbar remained closed, police said. One northbound lane reopened sometime by 3:20 p.m

    The crash remains under investigation.
