FINDLAY — The Hancock County  Sheriff's Office wants to question a Van Buren-area man who they believe could be linked to a hit-skip crash and a stolen vehicle.

Officials ask that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Andre LD White, 23, call the sheriff's office at 419-422-2424. The only physical description of Mr. White is that he is a white male; when asked, the sheriff's office said they did not have a photo of Mr. White.

Mr. White is wanted for questioning related to a Thursday morning crash on County Road 140, just north of Township Road 107, in Portage Township. The involved vehicle, a sport-utility vehicle owned by Melinda Hackenburg, was badly damaged in the one-vehicle crash. After the crash the occupants abandoned the SUV and fled.

Officials said a passenger, William Carver, 33, whose address was not provided, was later found; he suffered "severe" injuries.

Deputies believe alcohol is a factor in the crash.

The stolen vehicle complaint originated in the same area as the crash, officials said. The vehicle was later recovered by the Wood County Sheriff's Office.
