Sobriety checkpoints planned tonight in Lucas County, Tiffin

Sobriety checkpoints are planned tonight in Lucas County and in Tiffin, authorities said.

In Lucas County, a checkpoint will operate a checkpoint from 9 p.m. to midnight on Central Avenue, according to the patrol. The checkpoint will be operated by the Ohio Highway Patrol in cooperation with the Lucas County OVI Task Force, and the Ottawa Hills Police Department.

In Tiffin, a checkpoint will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight on Market Street, the patrol said.

Funded by federal grant funds, the checkpoints are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. The checkpoints will be accompanied by increased presence of law enforcement agents, according to the patrol.
