An inmate at the Toledo Correctional Institute was taken to a local hospital today after an inmate-on-inmate attack, a prison official said.
The assault occurred at about 4:15 p.m., said Kimberly Henderson, the prison's assistant healthcare administrator and spokesman. Ms. Henderson said the attack was an “isolated incident” and that the prison is not on lockdown.
She described the injuries to the inmate as nonlife threatening.
She declined to say where on the prison grounds the attack occurred; she also declined to say if any weapons were used. She cited the ongoing investigations – an internal probe and one conducted by the Highway Patrol.
