ADRIAN - An Adrian man accused of assault turned himself in to police this morning.

Reginald Williams, 31, was wanted for a May 8 assault that occurred just before a shooting near Parish Park, according to Adrian police. He is charged with assault with intent to cause great bodily harm.

Adrian police said last week that officers responded about 6:35 p.m. May 8 to a report of shots fired in the 700 block of Erie Street near Parish Park and found two victims. One victim had a gunshot wound to his left arm, and the other had a wound on the back of his head, which did not appear to be caused by a gunshot, police said.

Mr. Williams is accused of assault the man with the head wound. He is not believed to have been involved with the shooting, or to have a gun on him at the time, according to police.

It's unclear at this point if the shooting and the assault were related, or coincidentally occurred in close succession, police said. The gunshot victim was transported to ProMedica Bixby Hospital and later to ProMedica Toledo Hospital. The victim with the head injury was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Arrest warrants were issued Friday for Jacob Christopher Edmond, who is wanted for three counts of felonious assault warrant in the shooting.
