Toledo teenager shot in upper left of his back

A Toledo teenager showed up at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the back this afternoon, police said.

The teen was shot in the upper left back, near East Hudson and Maple streets at about 3:50 p.m., according to police. The victim's mother called police to say her son had been shot at by at least one person who drove by in a vehicle. About five minutes later, the victim showed up at the hospital in a private vehicle.

It was not immediately clear how severe the victim's injuries were. The victim's identity was not immediately available.
